From the Editor - Welcome to Volume 2, No. 1 of HAIB
Dear Human Animal Interaction Bulletin readers,
Welcome to Volume 2, No. 1 and the one year anniversary of The Human-Animal Interaction Bulletin. We are pleased to report exponentially growing interest in the publication with the current number of subscribers exceeding 1,000 and numerous submissions of high-quality manuscripts. This trend clearly demonstrates the need and desire to create and support a rich, thriving HAI research culture.
HAIB is a multidisciplinary open-access, peer-reviewed publication intended to produce momentum in our quest for excellence in HAI research, scholarship and learning. It focuses on cutting edge topics involving the interaction between non-human animals and their human counterparts including aspects of the human-animal bond as well as animals and interpersonal violence. HAIB welcomes manuscripts that pertain to either of these two broad categories.
This volume, featuring five articles accepted after rigorous double blind reviews and a timely book review, is possible only with the hard work of our action editors: Drs. Jegatheesan, Jacobson, and Signal as well as our style editors: Dr. Uttley and Ms. Volsche. Dr. Eckardt Erlanger is currently on leave and we congratulate her on the recent birth of her two sons. I would like to thank each of our editors for their time and dedication in bringing you this current volume.
We hope you enjoy the following articles and the different perspectives they present. As always, we actively invite different perspectives and articles on the wide variety of topics related to HAI. Prospective authors should feel free to contact me anytime with questions about potential submissions.
