Amy Johnson MA, MAT, LPC, CPDT-KA, UW-AAB

Amy Johnson developed and directs Oakland University’s online Animal Assisted Intervention Certificate Program and is the director of its Center for Human Animal Interventions. Additionally, she founded and directs the non-profit, Teacher’s Pet: Dogs and Kids Learning Together, which pairs adjudicated youth with hard-to-adopt shelter dogs for ten-week workshops on obedience training using humane training techniques. She is the Chair of the Position Statements, Competencies and Ethics committee for the American Psychological Association Human Animal Interaction Division 17 and has published articles, book chapters and presented internationally on topics related to dog welfare, animal assisted interventions and prison dog programs.
